In this month’s update:
- Easily share AI-generated dashboard insights via email
- Use enhanced GitHub Copilot metrics for precise adoption tracking
- Get the most out of DORA with scorecards, industry benchmarks, and webhook support
- Create private draft dashboards with controlled sharing options
- How to configure granular platform access control with the new "Restricted Viewer" role
We’ll dive into more of the details below.
Easily share insights with AI-powered Dashboard summaries
Did someone say “AI?” We’re investing in several different areas to bring AI into the forefront of how you and your teams leverage the insights from the Allstacks and interact with the data itself. We’re excited to share the first of many AI-related initiatives that you can look forward to with AI-powered dashboard insights. Delivered via email in PDF format, these insights provide a summary of information and AI-driven recommendations based on the dashboards you subscribe to within the app.
Why is this important?
- You get a simple, fast, and more accessible way to share helpful insights found in your Allstacks dashboards with other members of your organization and team - all without having to login to Allstacks
What’s included:
- Summary - An observation of the populated metrics in your dashboard. For example, metrics missing/exceeding your target, outliers, alignment with goals, high activity projects, productivity areas, and any big changes that occurred.
- Recommendations — Next steps to improve internal metrics, such as work allocation ideas to improve focus, prioritization suggestions, identifying projects with process improvement potential, and more.
To receive the AI insights, go to the dashboard you want to subscribe to, click on the 3 dots on the top right, and click subscribe. You will receive the report every Sunday.
Maximize value with Copilot metrics
GitHub Copilot adoption continues to increase across engineering organizations, with data showing it helps developers code up to 55% faster and makes them feel 85% more confident in their code quality. The ability to accurately measure Copilot usage and adoption across your organization is paramount to get the most out of it.
Luckily, Allstacks can help measure Copilot adoption and usage and we’ve made several enhancements to our Copilot metrics that help with categorization, as well as provide more granular data.
Simplified adoption metric categorization
Quickly identify active vs. inactive Copilot users to maximize your coding efficiency and adoption. Previously, prior states included active, invited, not using, and not invited. The new categorization will allow you to drill down and view the contributors by name who fall into each category.
- Active state = Took action that week.
- Inactive state = Took no action that week.
Granular user tags
We have also replaced the Copilot tags in-app with more granular tags. Now, you’ll be able to see how recently user activity with Copilot was performed.
Take DORA to the next level
We recently announced our new and improved DORA scorecard capability that helps organizations assess the effectiveness of their software development and operational processes by measuring 4 key metrics (deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate, and mean time to recovery) in a more streamlined, dedicated experience in Allstacks. DORA scorecards also include a table for industry benchmarks that you can use to set targets and compare team performance with industry standards.
Configure DORA via webhooks
You can now configure DORA using webhooks. This allows you to send data to the Allstacks platform that can be used to generate DORA metric reports and other metrics on your build and release process even if you use a custom, in-house build system, or a build/deployment tool that isn’t currently supported.
You can read more about this here and we encourage you to reach out to your CSM for any questions or help with configuring your webhooks.
Effortlessly create and edit dashboards before sharing wider
Highly requested by our customers, you can now privately draft and refine dashboards before sharing them – ensuring your team always sees relevant insights! Quickly access your drafts via the sidebar menu once they are created, as seen below.
What’s included with draft dashboards:
- Private drafting environment: Each user has their own drafts visible only to them
- Selective sharing: Share your draft with specific users by providing them with the URL (org/project permissions still apply)
- Template support: Draft dashboards remain in the Default Workspace until published
What this means for you:
- Simplified publishing workflow: You can easily convert your draft dashboards to a standard dashboard in one click
Get more granular access control with the new “restricted viewer” role
Last but not least, we’ve added a “restricted viewer” user role as a new user type within Allstacks. This new user type allows you to create users with read-only access and no editing capabilities. We recommend you provide this access to users who would consume the information but won’t build or change anything in the platform. Here’s what you need to know:
- Users with restricted viewer access can - View dashboards, deliverables, milestones, goals, and DORA scorecards.
- Users with restricted viewer access cannot - Access metrics or the Work Items Table (WIT), configure a metric, edit a dashboard, edit a deliverables report, update Milestones, or configure DORA scorecards.
To update users with the new role, navigate to “User Management” in the app and then change the “Role” column for the specified user to “Restricted Viewer” by using the dropdown menu.
We hope you enjoy these improvements! Keep an eye on our release notes page for regular updates. for If you have any questions about these changes, don’t hesitate to reach out to your Allstacks customer success manager so we can help.
